For those that don’t know me…I am a wedding DJ who loves to bring families to tears and then uplift them with joy! But this is done with a process. The first part of that being, the picture slideshow! This is used for birthdays, weddings, and any event including holiday corporate picture slideshows with logos and employee photos! I do music video mixing for the majority of my events. No music is needed to be selected, I’ll handle that. I just need your pictures!
So with that, a slideshow is always included for my clients to enjoy. I have some tips and tricks to make your slideshow the most memorable one ever seen!
Picture Slideshow – Step One.
Don’t overthink the process. People want to see the guest(s) of honor at their greatest and most vulnerable moments. So allow them into those tear jerking moments growing up. On family trips, with friends at sporting events. Pull out all the photos of those unforgettable moments you shared with the guests that you know will be in attendance! If you’re a couple, alternate photos growing up with engagement photos. Go out and do an informal selfie shoot at a park. The point is get creative with it, and it will show in your wedding picture slideshow!
Picture Selection – Step Two.
Be selective. Wasting short attention span time with multiple images of the same moment will leave part of the slideshow unwatched as people start to talk amongst themselves instead of finishing the show! Keep it interesting and pick out the best pictures like an artist would song for their debut album! Let’s not miss any of these embarrassing moments with friends, but don’t LOSE friends either over a picture slideshow! If you would like to have a memorialized moment with past relative, this will be the perfect time to wish they were there with photos, and short videos of 5-10 seconds can work as well!
Slideshow Setup – Step Three.
KISS. Keep It Simple Stu…& Short! I would say a minimum of 15 pictures to a maximum of 100 photos for the full picture slideshow for the loud oohs and ahs effect. My personal sweet spot is about 60 pictures. Here’s why, your slide show will be playing approximately the length of one song. Which on average is about 4 minutes. Anything beyond 60 pictures will make it to long and fall by the wayside.
If you’re a client of mine, the best way to send a photo picture slide show will be by uploading them to www.dropbox.com. Gmail also allows the photos uploaded by link, or multiple emails are fine as well.
Follow these rules and you will have the tools to rule the emotions that consume the room!
Once you mastered the slide show, how about taking time to tackle that timeline and then deal with the bridal party lineup?!
