My orientation to performing the reverse bridal party introductions as a grand entrance began a little over six months ago. The Rombkowski’s called me after filling out all of the necessary planning forms to set up a meeting. I had no hint of what they wanted to meet about. This secret subject made me curious since it needed to be discussed in person. The secrecy was only because they weren’t exactly sure how it would work. They hired a Hero ahead of time!
First, let’s review how basic bridal party introductions go versus a grand entrance. We start by announcing the parents, followed by ring bearer, and flower girl. Then with a final song change, we will build anticipation for the bride and groom’s entrance. As they enter, everyone is instructed to stand. Bringing a crescendo of applause and awe for the guests of honor!
The Grand Entrance
There are variations to this, for example you will tend to expect individual song changes for each bridal party couple while they come in doing something wild or quirky! Popular antics involve alcohol, in a can of choice, being binge guzzled. Sometimes a costumed mascot hyping up the crowd, or even a choreographed dance routine! Often long scripts of describing each person and their involvement with the bride or groom are announced. This amount of extra effort is referred to as a “Grand Entrance”.
Reverse Bridal Introductions
Back to my Bride and Groom who dared to be different! Their vision was to do this order in reverse! I started by announcing Bride and Groom with a bold build up announcement of the new Rombkowski’s! They came in to a fanfare of standing guests with cloth napkins waving! (Something I secretly prepared my audience for as a surprise!) I relinquished a cordless mic to the bride for her to share hosting duties with her groom. With each nod she gave me, the song would change and the couple did the announcements for the bridal party names in true reverse bridal party introduction fashion! They chose to do it as a Grand Entrance with song changes for each bridal couple that reflected their personalities. You can watch the crowd pleasing antics in the video below!
In all this made for a very hilarious, different, fun bridal party introduction. Something that the crowd, and internet will never forget. There’s nothing like throwing your cares to the wind to celebrate a best friend or family member. You don’t have to do anything different, but always make sure you make your special day as memorable as possible!
