Hosting Bar & Bat Mitzvah DJ Games is a completely different task than any other event! Today I breakdown what it takes to make a special day great! It requires your DJ to be an entertainer.
A Bar Mitzvah (boys) or Bat Mitzvah (girls) is a coming of age ceremony for Jewish boys and girls when they reach the age of 12 or 13. This ceremony marks the time when a boy or girl becomes a Jewish adult. This means that they are now responsible for their own actions and can decide for themselves how they would like to practice Judaism. What follows the ceremony is the party. This is where I come into play!
I have mastered the mic work of performing Bar & Bat Mitzvah DJ games with all kids, all you have to do is just be a big kid yourself! I’m your host, while still mixing music videos. With a little help from my assistant we interact, play, and then that makes the kids stay!
The real key to keeping the kids attention, is in the giveaways! Make sure to have gift cards as prizes! It gives a boost of excitement when the kids know they can win something from Starbucks, Chick Fil A, or whatever is popular. These tactics will definitely make participation the fashionable action. Especially when you’re dealing with moody kids who like to stay to the back of the room in small cliques.
Let’s loose the attitudes and push up the good moods! I’ve assembled a list of my favorite fun games that I’d like to reintroduce to you when I host your event! Keeping social distance in mind, I have chosen games that have minimal interaction in this Covid-19 climate. Kids can still have fun while staying apart!
In my opinion, the average Bar or Bat Mitzvah needs to be around 3, no more than 4 hours, before you risk losing the kids attention. So I would recommend playing each game every 20-25 minutes with dancing and socializing in between time. Otherwise the day may get exhausting for everyone fast! I have included a list of line dance and interactive songs to go in between game time, below.
After you choose the games you like here, book me! Then ask about the ” Bar or Bat Mitzvah Option” and I will provide the props for you need for the combo fee. Do your have any Bar & Bat Mitzvah DJ game questions or suggestions? Contact me today!

Musical Chairs
How to play: Musical chairs is a game that can be played by both kids and adults. Bring out a numbered amount of chairs to the middle of the dance floor and create a circle. From there everyone participating will be walking around the chairs in a circle while music is being played. Once the music stops everyone must sit in a chair, if someone cannot find a chair, they are eliminated. Every time someone is eliminated you then remove the same amount of chairs until there is 1 winner.
Needs: As many chairs as people
Freeze Dance
How to play: Your DJ plays a song, as soon as the music turns off, who ever is moving is eliminated! Variation: use a ball, orange, or something to pass around in a circle and who ever has the item when the song stops is eliminated. Changing songs and telling people what to do like put your hands in the air will add spice to the contest.
Needs: 1 DJ
Limbo Contest
How to play:
Let’s Limbo! This is an elimination game great for all ages! Little kids can play as well as the adults and believe it or not some adults will come up to play. You will have all the kids line up behind the Mitzvah child and then explain the rules. Ask two kids who are not really participating in the games to hold the Limbo stick. This will help break the ice with them because they will feel like they are part of the party without playing what they think is a child’s game (pretty clever huh?).
The rules for Limbo are as follows: First, I tell them they must go feetfirst head last (no surfing either). In addition I also mention that they may not touch the Limbo stick at any time with any part of their body. Finally, they are not allowed to have their hands, knees or bottom touch the floor and at no time can they jump over the Limbo stick. The last person left will win a prize. I usually have a junior winner for the little ones and the grand prize goes to one of the older kids.
Needs: 1 Limbo stick

Hula Hoops
How to play: I leave the Hula Hoops out around the dance floor early. Just in case anyone wants to play around or practice first. When it’s time to play, I invite approximately 8 contestants depending on the size of the dance floor area. I outline the rules. The person who keeps the hula hoop going the longest, wins! Depending on the skill of the age group. This may be the quickest game. But I have seen it go as long as 10 minutes.
Needs: 4-8 Hula Hoops
Frozen Bean Bag Tag
How to play: Frozen bean bag tag is a game in which all players have bean bags that they balance on their foreheads. The students walk around the playing area trying not to drop their bean bags. If a student drops his bean bag, he is frozen. To be freed, another player must try to replace the bean bag on the frozen student’s head without dropping her own.

Jump Rope Contest
How to play: How long can you jump rope? Whoever lasts the longest gets the prize. You can do group jumps depending on space!

How to play: Teams of four, one “mummy” and three “wrappers.” Two rolls of toilet paper are used for each team. “Wrappers” run around and wrap the “mummy.” Each time the paper breaks, they must switch “wrappers.” First team to finish both rolls, wins.
Needs: 4 rolls or more of toilet paper.
